Grok Bot vs the Grok API

Grok Bot is a desktop/mobile agent product with a cloud computer; the xAI API is pay-per-token model access for developers. They don't convert into each other. When to use which.

Short answerGrok Bot is a product; the API is a component. A subscription doesn't give you API credit and API credit doesn't give you Bots. Use the API if you're building your own agent (or running Hermes/OpenClaw); use Grok Bot if you want the agent built for you.

The API plus an open-source harness gives you what Grok Bot does with more work and more control. See Grok Bot vs Hermes.
